DRC: JOURNALIST TO JUDGMENTS FROM December 16, 2010

By John Zyombo – Robert Shamamba journalist and director of Radio Mitumba broadcasting from the City of Uvira in South Kivu province has been arrested since December 16, 2010 by the intelligence service ANR and kept in the jail  until now. According to ANR, the author of this arrest, is accused of having criticized the speech of President Joseph Kabila before the Congress of December 8, 2010 in Kinshasa during a debate program “outspoken”. CONGO: Second phase of immunization under way as polio outbreak kills 200

BRAZZAVILLE, 10 December 2010 (IRIN) – The number of people killed by an outbreak of wild polio virus in the Republic of Congo has reached 200, officials said, as the second of three rounds of mass vaccination began. “The first phase was a great success with a coverage rate of 105 percent. DRC: HIV / AIDS spreading rapidly in rural areas to the east

This stabilization remains fragile due to the reduced funding for some partners in the fight against HIV. In Eastern countries, the virus is spreading rapidly in rural areas considered high risk area with 3.3% prevalence.
