Gambia: Opposition Leader Congratulate APRC on Wuli East victory

By Gambian Correspondent – The opposition Gambia Moral Congress has congratulated the ruling APRC for its recent victory in the Wuli East constituency bye-election. The ruling APRC, it would be recalled, won the contest with the opposition National Alliance for Democracy and Development (NADD) in the bye-election, which followed the death in March 2011 of Hon. Bekai Camara, National Assembly Member for Wuli East. Saidou Sabally of the APRC polled 2,745 votes while Suwaibou Touray of NADD polled 1,849 votes. Gambia Fails in Freezing So-called Ghadafi’s Assets

By Gambian Correspondent – Gambia government’s decision to close down so-called assets of embattled Libyan leader, Ghadafi has failed. Business is instead bustling at Jerma Hotel, Laico Hotel and Dream Park, The Daily News confirmed from official sources. Gambia government had on Friday, Aril 22, pronounced the freezing of all assets owned by Ghadafi in the country. Laico Hotel, formerly known as Atlantic Hotel, Jerma Hotel, and Dream Park are said to be part of Ghadafi’s assets and therefore freezed with effect from April 22. Gambia: APRC retains Wuli East Constituency seat

By Own Correspondent – The ruling Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) has retained its seat in the National Assembly after winning the much-awaited bye-elections in the Wuli-East district. The bye-election, held yesterday in Wuli East district in the Upper River Region, brought together Saidou Sabally of the APRC and Suwaibou Touray of the opposition NADD.
