Gambia: Opposition Leader, Veteran Gambian Lawyers, accountant appear before Tax Commission

Marenah, Shout-Africa.com Special and Bureau Chief In Banjul – Several prominent lawyers and an accountant have appeared before the Commission of Inquiry into tax evasion and other corrupt practices, which commenced sitting Monday at the premises of the high court in Banjul. The lawyers were the doyen of the Gambian Bar Association, Lawyer Surakarta Babucarr Samega Janneh, and three other prominent Gambian lawyers, namely,Ousainou Numukumda Darboe, Antouman Gaye and Cheyassin Ousman Secka. Gambia’s Fatou Bensouda to be new ICC chief prosecutor

Gambian-born Fatou Bensouda has emerged as the consensus candidate for the high-profile job of chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, a diplomat at the center of the selection process said on Wednesday. Commonwealth says democratic reforms needed in Gambia
