Liberian President, George Weah has finally made appointments to the National Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Commission. Those appointed are Bobby Whitfield, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and Salia Kamara, Executive Director. Others include the Board of Directors of the National WASH Commission, headed by Public Works Minister as Chair, Lands Mines & Energy Minister-Member, Health Minister-Member, Education Minister-Member, and the Managing Director of the Liberia Water & Sewer Corporation-Member.

LIBERIA: WaterAid meets PCC, other sanitation stakeholders

As part of efforts to support Liberia’s strives for improved and sustained sanitation program in Montserrado County, specifically focusing on various municipalities, the British charity WaterAid Liberia/Sierra Leone has held an introductory meeting with the City Mayor of Paynesville and other stakeholders as it relates to sanitation. The purpose of the meeting according to WaterAid Liberia/Sierra Leone Deputy Country Director, Chuchu Selma, was intended to strengthen coordination and cooperation in the implementation of a sanitation project, shortly to be officially launched Monrovia.

LIBERIA: WASH R&E “Media” Microscopes GoL WASH commitments

The Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Reporters & Editors Network of Liberia has done a microscopic analysis of National and International WASH Commitments signed unto by the Liberian government. These Commitments are part of efforts to mitigate the unacceptable gaps in access to water, sanitation and hygiene, fragmentation in governance and improve sustainability of facilities and services.

Liberia: Grand Kru Citizens Petition Legislative Caucus to prioritize WASH

Inhabitants of Buah and Forkpoh Districts in Grand Kru County have petitioned the local county authority and the Legislative Caucus to ensure that safe water, improved sanitation, and hygiene services are provided the two Districts. The citizens in their petition said they are tired of drinking from the creek and using the bushes for toilet purposes. They noted that this poses threat to their survival, stressing the need for safe water and improved sanitation to be looked at critically in the County Development budget.

LIBERIA: Living Water Int’l to end operation in Margibi

After five years of successful humanitarian services in Margibi County, Living Water International is expected to shortly end operations and is moving to other communities outside the county for similar mission. Living Water International, a Christian Faith-based charity exists to demonstrate the love of God by helping communities acquire desperately needed clean water, and to experience "living water"-the gospel of Jesus Christ-which alone satisfies the deepest thirst.
