As the bid continues for a WASH sector governance structure in Liberia, a WASH Legislative Caucus Secretariat has been established at the National Legislature. It is aimed to buttress efforts of development partners and WASH CSOs in putting mechanism that will improve the sector.
The establishment of the secretariat is also intended to assist members of the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Legislative Caucus in coordinating their WASH Legislative agenda.

Since the expiration of the Monrovia Emergency Urban Sanitation Project sponsored by the World Bank, the timely removal of garbage in Monrovia and its environs has become a major nightmare for residents in the capital and surroundings. Stockpiles of garbage can be seen all over the main streets thus causing serious health hazard for residents in the city.

The much publicized 4th WASH Joint Sector Review has taken place in the port city of Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, amidst disappointment and boycott of the 2-day event.
It appears that the path once thread by some government officials in the former Unity Party-led government for not attending functions relating to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) has resurfaced in the Coalition of Democratic Change-led government.

The Liberian Government has announced the holding of the 4th Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Joint Sector Review. The Joint Sector Review looks at challenges, successes and prospects in the WASH sector of Liberia.
The sector review this year is aimed at formulating a one plan for water, sanitation and hygiene across the country.
Speaking during a press conference Thursday, Deputy Public Works Minister for Rural Development, Benjamin Banto, said over the last decades Joint Sector Reviews have emerged as a way of coordinating stakeholders in a particular sector.

Several Open Defecation Free (ODF) Communities in Kakata and Gibi Districts in Margibi County are happy recipients of hand pumps provided by the faith based charity Living Water International in their respective communities.
The beneficiaries were triggered by the Christian charity through the Community Led Total Sanitation, an initiative introduced by the Government of Liberia.
The CLTS is an innovative methodology for mobilizing communities to completely eliminate open defecation, prioritize improved sanitation and live healthy.
Communities are facilitated to conduct their own evaluation and analysis of open defecation and take their steps to become Open Defecation Free.
