The Liberian government and the Millennium Challenge Account over the weekend broke grounds for the construction of an 18 Million United States dollars Raw Water Pipeline in White Plains, outside Monrovia. It will be constructed between the Mt. Cofee Hydro Plant and the White Plains Water Treatment Plant.
The pipeline will ensure the delivery safe drinking water supply to nearly million residents of Monrovia and environs.

The West Africa WASH Journalists Network has ended its Annual General Assembly Meeting with the elections of a new corps of Officers to steer the affairs of the Network for 3 years.
The West Africa WASH Journalists Network comprises countries of West Africa, and added Cameroon as one of its members.
The elections were held in Accra, Ghana as part of a 4-Day WASH Human Rights Advocacy Training and the WASH JN General Assembly Meeting.

An Intensive Training to ensure increased WASH Media and CSO professionals’ attention for more awareness and advocacy on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) issues, has successfully taken place in the South Eastern Region of Liberia.
The 3-Day WASH Training was designed to strengthen the capacity of Media and civil society actors and create bigger platforms to articulate community voices to access better water and sanitation facilities.
The Training held in Fish Town City, River Gee County was held in partnership with the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Reporters and Editors Network of Liberia (WASH R&E), Liberia Media Empowerment & Foundation (LIMEAF Inc) and the Foundation for Empowerment of Rural Dwellers (FERD), with support from WaterAid Liberia.

It appears that the prolong stay of garbage in Paynesville is brewing serious tension between the Paynville City Corporation and the Liberia Marketing Association, Red Light Branch.
The PCC is pointing accusing fingers at LMA for not taking responsibility to ensure the huge stock of the garbage in the commercial district of Red Light is removed on time, despite funding provided by marketers.
The PCC alleged that the LMA has neglected its responsibility to clean and manage waste from marketplaces under its jurisdiction.
In a meeting with marketers, Paynesville City Mayor, E. Pam Belcher-Taylor blamed the LMA for the perpetual filth of the major markets in the city.

Over 300 youths have been recruited as part of government’s efforts under the Youth Employment Program to keep Monrovia, Paynesville and other places clean.
The clean-up exercise is expected to get underway this Thursday in Monrovia.
According to Youth and Sports Minister, Zoegar Wilson, the recruits will carry out a regular cleaning-up campaign in the collection of wastes or garbage management of Monrovia and its environs.
