LIBERIA: WASH Compact Awareness Goes Nationwide

By: WASH R&E Network – The official launch of a campaign aimed at popularizing the Liberia Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) document amongst Liberians and other residents, kicks off Tuesday, May 22. The WASH Compact, similar to the one developed in Ghana, sets out the Government of Liberia’s priorities and strategies for achieving sector goals, while making explicit the accountability framework.  The Compact, as the nucleus of a national plan for WASH, provides a platform for mobilizing and targeting its own resources and those of its development partners. LIBERIA: Arthington Gets 1st Public Hand Pumps, Latrine since 1822

By: WASH R&E Network-Liberia – The people of the Township of Arthington now have reasons to rejoice following the construction and subsequent dedication of the first public hand pump and latrine facilities by a USA based Organization, “Higher Ground International” after 190 years. Arthington is a historic Township in Montserrado County, the Republic of Liberia, established by the first Settlers in 1822 and the home of former President, Charles Taylor.
