LIBERIA: FAO New Boss Presents Letters of Credence

Myers – The new Country Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Mr Jean-Alexandre Scaglia, on Wednesday presented a copy of his Letters of Credentials to Agriculture Minister Dr. Florence Chenoweth. Mr Scaglia, who had earlier presented his Letters of Credentials to Foreign Minister, Dr. Toga Macintosh, said he was happy to take up assignment in Liberia for the next three years to collaborate with the Government to scale up Liberia’s agricultural development needs. Liberia: I E starts National League with defeat

By Peterking Quaye – Liberia’s one time champion club and continental representative I.E start the new Cellcom Liberia Football Association league on Wednesday with a stunning defeat to less fancy Jubilee FC. The yellow Boys went down 2-1 at the hands of Jubilee after missing a first half penalty, when the goalkeeper of Jubilee FC fouled an I.E player. Liberia: Low-income households to benefit from electricity connections

By Peterking Quaye – The World Bank, acting as administrator for the Global Partnership on Output-Based Aid (GPOBA), has approved a grant of US$10 million to connect about 80,000 people to Monrovia’s electricity grid, raising the electricity access rate in Liberia’s capital from 0.6 percent to 8 percent. This was contained in a press release by the World Bank, GPOBA funding will supplement capital allocations from various donors to install connections, initially targeting 21 priority low-income neighborhoods.
