In the wake of a serious sanitation crisis with stockpiles of garbage in and around Monrovia, the city government has commenced a home enumeration exercise across the municipality of Monrovia, Liberia’s capital.
The exercise is part of the Monrovia City Corporation’s Waste Management Exercise amidst robust WASH Media Reportage of the garbage crisis across Monrovia.
The Monrovia City Corporation (MCC) through its Mayor, Jefferson Koijee has declared waste as a “potential national security threat”, and called for collective efforts against the solid waste threat.

The appalling sanitary condition at various market places in and around Monrovia has claimed the attention of marketers, other residents and even government as well.
The unsanitary condition at these various market sites which is been described as health threatening by marketers, pedestrians and community residents, now calls for immediate attention by the city government, “Monrovia City Corporation (MCC)”.

An American faith based charity, Living Water International Liberia has launched a five-year Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Project in Nimba County, Liberia.
The WASH Project targets over One Hundred Seventy Thousand (170,000) persons in Garr Bain District, Nimba county.
The program was held Wednesday as part of a One Day Stakeholders Workshop at the United Liberia Inland Central Church in Ganta city.

Despite funds collected on a daily basis by the Liberia Marketing Association(LMA) and the Paynesville City Corporation(PCC) from marketers in the Commercial District of Redlight, the removal of garbage from this area remains a major challenge. Many of the marketers who are not opportune to secure a selling spot within the market main building have no option but to often sell close to a garbage site.
The unpleasant odour greets them every day as they go about in search of their daily bread.
