Nigeria: NAFDAC reaffirms ban on Methyl Bromide

The use of Methyl Bromide as a fumigant for agricultural produce in Nigeria has continued to generate concerns among various agencies in Nigeria. This is coming as the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control NAFDAC reaffirms its ban of Methyl Bromide. NAFDAC had previously banned the use of Methyl Bromide in Nigeria but was subsequently countered by the Nigerian Agricultural Quarantine Service ( NAQS ). This is contained in statement from the office of the Director General, Mrs. Mojisola Adeyeye, and made available to newsman.

Nigeria: Federal Government warns that stiffer penalties await suppliers of fake fertiliser

The Federal Government says it has put in place stiffer penalties for the suppliers of unwholesome farm inputs. This is in its effort to reduce the frequent circulation of fake and adulterated fertilizers in the markets. Registrar, Nigerian Institute of Soil Science, Professor Victor Chude who revealed this at the opening of the capacity building and training workshop for fertilizer Inspectors in Mararaba, Nasarawa State, pointed that the stiffer sanctions have been provided for in the Nigeria Fertilizer Quality Control Bill 2017, before the National Assembly.

Nigerians await announcement of Presidential and National assembly election results

The collation of yesterday's presidential and National Assembly elections results are ongoing across the country as citizens anxiously wait for a declaration of who will lead the country in another four years. The Independent National Electoral Commission's Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu earlier today  briefed the press and stakeholders including domestic and international election observers of reports of happenings during the elections across the country. Professor Mahmood commended Nigerians for their peaceful and patriotic conducts during the polls.

National Root Canal Crops Research Institute (s), has proposed product diversification as a remedy to retain Nigeria’s position as one of the world’s leading producers of cassava. Nigeria: ECOWAS Election Observer team commends INEC’s preparedness to conduct hitch free elections

Ahead  of tomorrow's Presidential and National Assembly elections ECOWAS Election Observers Team has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC for its readiness and ability to conduct the tomorrow's Presidential and National Assembly elections after the postponement of last Saturday's scheduled polls which got many people disappointed and talking. The team was also optimistic that the security agencies were capable of conducting a hitch free polls.
