South Africa: Pieter Hugo’s Permanent Error

JOHANNESBURG – Brodie/Stevenson launches its new gallery space at 62 Juta Street, Braamfontein, with a solo exhibition of new work by Pieter Hugo, on Thursday 4 November from 6:30 – 9pm. For the past year Hugo has been photographing the people and landscape of an expansive dump of obsolete technology in Ghana. The area, on the outskirts of a slum known as Agbogbloshie, is referred to by local inhabitants as Sodom and Gomorrah, a vivid acknowledgment of the profound inhumanity of the place. Travelling Exhibit Opens At German Cultural Weeks In Cape Town

The collected works explore art, fashion, sport and the African diaspora from the perspective of 17 African and European artists. The exhibit will run until November 7 and is a project of the Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations and Aktion Afrika initiative from Germany’s Foreign Office.
