USAID Food for Peace Program, Amalima, Supports Rural Households

Gwanda, Matebeleland South, December 10, 2014.  To improve nutrition and support rural households in Matabeleland North and South, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is providing fortified supplementary food to pregnant and lactating women and children under the age of two years. This year alone, USAID has distributed 220 metric tons of supplementary food to 17,000 mothers and children, which is distributed through 56 rural clinics in the two provinces. Zimbabwe: Black Bird, Peekay lead awards nomination list

The two rappers were nominated in four categories each at the most prestigious event in the local hip hop calendar scheduled for December 17. Zimbabwe: Doctorate Degree for Oliver Mtukudzi

The International Institute of Philanthropy (IIP) will tomorrow, July 4, 2014, confer an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Human Letters (DHL) to Zimbabwe’s most internationally renowned musical ambassador, Oliver Mtukudzi. This will be Mtukudzi’s third honorary degree. In 2003 he was conferred with an Honorary Arts degree from the University of Zimbabwe, recognising decades of dedication to his craft, creating music and inspiring a generation of new Zimbabwean artists to use local influences in their work. U.S. agency honors Zimbabwe public health expert

Harare, June 3, 2014: The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) honored Zimbabwe public health expert Donewell Bangure with the International Night Honor – the 2014 William H. Foege Award for Most Outstanding Public Health Scientific Oral Presentation – during the Epidemic Intelligence Service Conference held in late April at the organization’s headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia.
