Zimbabwe: American acts at HIFA 2013

By Yolanda Ndlovu – Harare April 16, 2013: Five outstanding acts from the United States of America are set to participate this week in the 14th annual Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA).  HIFA runs from April 30 to May 5 under the theme “What’s next…” The six day festival will showcase local, regional and international arts and culture, including theatre, dance, music, spoken word, and the visual arts.  The American delegation consists of a wide assortment of cultural acts, including outstanding singers from the Harlem-based gospel choir “Songs of Solomon,” conducted by veteran choir leader Pastor Chantel Wright. ... Zimbabwean-American Gospel Mega-Choir Set to Fill HIFA Main Stage with Music and Glory: Not to be Missed

KLM celebrates the best of Zimbabwe by sponsoring its Achievers Awards

For the first time, KLMRoyal Dutch Airlines will be sponsoring the Zimbabwe Achievers Awards (ZAA) in the UK, which are taking place in London on 20th April,  2013. The awards will be held at Millenium Gloucester Hotel, Kensington, London, and recognise Zimbabweans who have made an outstanding contribution for their country in the past year. Female ambassadors discuss women’s growing place in diplomacy

Despite continuing challenges faced by women in diplomatic service, the world has made strides in ensuring women take up the challenging role of representing their countries abroad, a role traditionally reserved for men until recently. Two women diplomats — Ambassadors Lisa Stadelbauer (Canada) and Barbara Joziasse (Netherlands) — testified at a Ladies Night event organized jointly by the Quill Press Club and the U.S. Embassy’s Women Journalists Mentoring Program (WJMP). Zimbabwe still landmine infested 33 years after conflict
