Zimbabwe Opposition Politician Gibson Sibanda Dies

HARARE, Zimbabwe – Former trade-unionist, Gibson Sibanda, a veteran labor activist and co-founder of Zimbabwe’s former opposition party, has died after a long battle with cancer at the age of 66, MDC-M has said. In 2005, Sibanda left Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s Movement for Democratic Change over sharp policy differences, and joined the Mutambara-led MDC. He had been deputy leader in Tsvangirai’s party until he joined a breakaway faction and became a senator in the Harare parliament and a minister of state for the splinter group after disputed elections in 2008. Poor Services Forces Jamaican Musicians To Switch Harare Hotel

Jamaican music group, Brick & Lace met with a few shocks when they arrived at the Rainbow Towers Hotel in Harare on August 23. According to Zimbabwe Tourism Authority Chief Executive, Karikoga Kaseke, there was no water in the Five Star facility. Added onto this was poor service which forced the two musicians and their team to move hotels. Apparently, one of the incidents which led to them leaving The Rainbow Towers- apart from there being no running water in their rooms when they arrived- was a room service order for a coke which took two hours to come.
