Ghana: Lakeside Marina – Happy Sports ‘5km run’ Launched
By Peterking Quaye – The Lakeside Marina – Happy Sports 5 km Run event has been launched for the second time after successful run last .At a short launching ceremony in Accra during the week, organizers of the event explained the rationale behind the run and the process for individuals and corporate organizations to be part of it .
The ‘ 5 KM Run’ is slated for Independence Day, Sunday 6th March,2010 at ,this year’s event has been describe as a ‘celebration of life by the event organizers will mark the second in the series runs for the organizers.
Speaking at the launch Managing Director of Lakeside Estate and Lakeside Park, Salah Kalmoni, said he was delighted for this event referring to the premier edition success organized by his outfit and anticipated that through the collaboration with Happy Fm for this year ;the event will become an annual occurrence on independence day.’ “I expect it to grow in size and popularity”he declared.
Lake Marina Park (LPM) is a recreational park located around an oval lake at the Lakeside Estate in the Greater Accra region of Ghana, Lakeside developer of the Year Award .Happy Fm 98.9 ,is Ghana’s award winning station for sports(Winner CIMG Radio Program of the year 2009,Professional League Board ,Premier League Football Station 2008 and Sports Station of the Year consecutively 2005 and 2006 .
A number of interesting prizes to be won have slated for the Fastest Man, Fastest Man 2nd , Fastest Man 3rd ,the Fastest Woman ,the Fastest over 50,the Fastest CEO and the Fastest Corporate Team .
This collaboration is expected to be an annual occurrence every Independence Day, bringing the Ghanaian community opportunities to turn exercise into a fun activity that people can enjoy together.
The Run is a partnership between Lakeside Marina Park and Happy Sports from Happy FM, dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles among the Ghanaian community. Sponsors for the event includes Japan Motors,Pipen Gym.
